BRIDGING THEORY AND PRACTICE: A FIELD-BASED PRACTICAL SESSION HELD FOR STUDENTS

On 23 October this year, fourth-year students of the Academy of Labour and Social Relations took part in an off-campus practical session at the Republican Council of the Trade Union of Healthcare Workers of Uzbekistan. The session was organised as part of the course “The Law on Trade Unions and Trade Union Activities.”

The main objective was to strengthen students’ theoretical knowledge through practical experience, deepen their understanding of trade union operations, and develop the professional skills required for their future careers in labour and social relations.

During the visit, students learned about the organisational structure, core responsibilities and key areas of activity of the sectoral trade union, which represents more than one million workers. Particular attention was given to protecting the labour and socio-economic rights of healthcare workers, safeguarding their legitimate interests, promoting social partnership, and understanding the role of trade unions in addressing workplace issues.

The session was conducted in an interactive format, encouraging open discussion and questions and answers. Students had the opportunity to raise questions with specialists, receive practical explanations, and gain first-hand insight into the day-to-day activities of trade union organisations.

Such field-based practical sessions play an important role in bridging the gap between theory and practice, strengthening students’ professional competencies, and broadening their knowledge of labour relations, social partnership and the protection of workers’ rights.
